In what may have been the last club meeting ever at Fundemonium in Rohnert Park, the Wine Country Model Club met on Monday September 8, 2025 with 19 members and guests attending.
President James Morando started the meeting with a brief update report on the club’s rebranding, including the adoption of the new logo, the transition and updating of the club website to winecountrymodelclub.com and the creation of the new Facebook group Wine Country Model Club. Thanks were expressed particularly to Kevin and Randy for their work making this happen.
James also reported on our ongoing club group build with the theme of “Vintage kits which will conclude at the December meeting where we have “People’s Choice” voting with gift certificates going to the top 3 vote getters.
Dean then reported on our upcoming participation at the Pacific Coast Air Museum “Wheels and Wings Car Show” which will be held from 9 am -2 pm on Saturday September 20, 2025. We will have a club display table to show off member car and aircraft models and also host a make and take event for kids.
The Reno High Rollers Show on Saturday September 27 at the Reno Auto Museum is fast approaching. Please let James know if you are planning to join the growing group planning to attend.
Kevin then told the group about the plans for a club field trip to the Nike Missile Site SF-88 in the Marin Headlands at 12:15 pm on Saturday November 1. Our group will enjoy a tour led by veterans of the Nike program who will no doubt have some stories to share. The group will get together for a lunch after the tour.
The club was then treated to an excellent presentation by Kevin Steeper on techniques for texturing with lots of great tips.
We then had a great Show and Tell session with many members participating and showing off some great work. Our discussion topic on experiences and strategies on maintaining and regaining “Modeling Mojo” was lots of fun.
Following the meeting a large group got together for post-meeting food, drinks and camaraderie at nearby Shari’s Café.
Our next meeting will be held on Monday October 6, 2025. Location to be announced.
