Meeting Minutes: 06/02/2025

The club held its monthly meeting on Monday June 2 at Fundemonium in Rohnert Park. We had a great turnout with 21 members attending.

President Dean Wallace started the meeting by reporting on the success of the additional sale of more items from the collection that was donated by Paul Anderson’s estate. The sale occurred at the SilverCon model show hosted by the Sacramento based SilverWings club on May 17. All items brought to the show were sold. Thanks, on behalf of the club was expressed to Dean, Ray and Kevin for their efforts, as the money raised will put us in good stead for our plans to host a 2026 model show.

:

Dean also reminded folks that the next election for club board members will be conducted at the club’s meeting in July, and encouraging anyone interested in serving on the board to contact Dean, Ray or James.

The club then received an update report from Show Coordinator Kevin Steeper on the planning for the club’s model show planned for April 2026. Tentatively the Petaluma Community Center at Lucchesi Park has been selected as the venue. Kevin reported that a new name has been decided on: “Wine Country Model Expo.” The contest portion of the show will again feature open/GSB judging in the successful format used at our last show and Kevin reported that this time an “exhibition” style of model display will be used with all of each modeler’s work being placed together on the table in the same location with a name tag identifying the modeler, rather than their models being spread out around the room based on categories. Other exciting show news is expected in the future as the planning continues.

We then had a great Show and Tell session with a large number of members participating and showing off their great work. We were treated to a fantastic blast from the past as Jack Riggar gave a slide presentation and talk about the build he did of the model that won 1st place at the 2007 IPMS Nationals.

At the end of the meeting, the club members then judged the entries for the club’s group “Things With Wings” build. There were some very strong models. Results and photos of the entries will be provided in a separate post.

Following the meeting we adjourned as is our tradition for post-meeting food, drinks and camaraderie at nearby Applebee’s, where a good time was had by all.

Next meeting will be held starting at 6:30 pm on Monday July 7, 2025.
